Incredibly tall callas

This morning I could not believe the length of these 36 inch calla lilies. These were grown locally, the plants must be liking the warm weather that we are having here in Oregon.

This is 2 different views of a bouquet made with these incredible callas. I enjoy working with the wonderful floral material at Old Town Florist. The twisting of the  stems creates a playful movement in an otherwise simple composition.

Picnic at the beach

Heading to the beach for a wonderful Our House Picnic.
It was such a beautiful drive to Cannon Beach.
I took way too many photos to share here.

Not a deer in sight.

We finally arrived, time to settle in and get ready for the guests on Saturday. Numbering 38 in total, this has been a wonderful experience in fond raising for Our House of Portland's Dinner at my house for Our house. Bob and Allen are such gracious hosts and this is a yearly event. Those that have been know it is not to be missed.

A walk on the beach to Haystack rock before dinner onThursday.

A basket of flowers greet you at the front gate.

Nasturtiums grace the front foyer with vintage paintings
and finds from Mexico.

The next six images are of the warmingly rustic den.
I did not get every incredible collection here,
but this a small sampling as you go around the room.

Pots of coral geraniums flank each corner of the upstairs terrace, adding a splash of color that mixes well with the teak furniture.

While back inside this is a tour around the upstairs living areas.
I managed to miss the Kitchen...It was in the throws of industry, creating all the salads entrees and a vast number of desserts.

Even the writing desk received a note of floral.

Back outside on the lower terrace, that is a sunny respite
from the wind, and place to lounge and enjoy the multitudes of different plantings. Japanese fish windsocks were part of the theme,
placed though out the garden.

The brilliant tapestry of color!

Friday afternoon.

Bob created this dinning room center piece and all the others from the incredible selection of flowers in the garden. The beds are so full not a bloom was missed outside, the colorful display inside made for such a cheery afternoon.
And here the serving pieces set out for each items placement. The table was covered with dishes of food. It was a sight to behold and tasted just as wonderful. Allen and Bill are very talents cooks.
Saturday is here!
Guests have arrived, after many of them had a long hot drive. Seems everyone in Portland had the same idea, lets go to the beach! Normally a two hour drive was three and a half for many.
There moods where lifted as they entered this oasis at the beach, with a libation in hand and delightful food soon to come!

Guests and friends enjoying themselves and the great weather.

It's a wrap for this year!

Bill and I are heading home to reconnect with our corgi, Chloe.
We have missed her so. Andy our housesitter takes such good care of her, but I is wonderful to be back in our own digs.

Just a moment to thank Bob and Allen, for everything!
They are wonderful friends.
The time that we share with them is truely memorable.
