Floral fabric

Not all my posts are always going to be just of the cut flower nature, but awefully close. One of the blogs that I follow and some what of the name sake of this blog is Aesthetic Oiseau by
author Daniela M. Shuffler.
She posted this patern in her Friday crush segment, that I thouroughly enjoy and look forward to, Not just because it signals the weekend but I highly recommend if you have not visited her blog, that you do.

This fabric RichloomTasha has wonderful contrast with the dark background. The dianthus, daisies and wildflowersdance across the fabric. I could imagine a chair covered in this design, or our dinning chairs?

It was the wonderful posts of Daniela and a handfull of other bloggers, that gave me the inclination and courage to start this site. Hope you have a creative week and enjoy the flowers everywhere.

A fond farewell for mike

Photo of the shop as we get flowers
in for this fridays event.

Club members created the many mint julip cup
arrangements for the tables and in the vestibule.

In the entry guest will greeted by 2 six foot tall arrangements and the banner announcing the evenings event, is accented with a smilex garland hung to unify the flowers flanking the ancient jacobian chest.

As you walk into the main lounge.  We created a large floral display in the clubs rose medalian punch bowl. White dove roses, peonies, hydrangea, mock orange and dogwood round out this and the other compositions in the club. Lots of texture, like goats beard, spray roses named white majolica plus foliages and lunaria add to the depth you see through out all the bouquets.

A pause at the bottom of the stairs before
entering the dinning room, more luscious white.

And just to the left another flush of flowers to
lead you down to the garden room.

Last but not least, a food table arrangement
in a 28 inch tall clindervase wrapped
in a spiral of smilex vine.
The display almost graced the ceiling.

Farewell Michael, I was lucky enough
to have worked with him on
many special projects for over 17 years.

Wonderful solstice wedding shower

I am starting with the fire place and walking through the house. The eremerus in these arrangements were very curly when I made them, but  they straightened up over night. The arrangements still punctuated the living room.
The library flowers were inspired by the book cover on the lower shelf of the coffee table. Fuchsia peonies and orange tulips splashed this brilliant room with vibrant color, accenting its black lacquered walls, and built-ins. The accessories added to the wonder of this creative room.
All white was the feature of the dinning room flanked by
Wm. Yeoward cache pots with green hydrangeas, Our simple centerpiece of this wedding shower  was mock orange, lizianthus only dancing above the leopard carpet.
A blue and white container boasted italian ruscus and fairy grass seed heads leading into the media room.
Blue and white flowers welcome the preparations of the party ahead.

We end this post at the entry, flowers in place and the work of the party just starting. On this day of the summer solstice it will be a warm and enjoyable party created by the hospitality and generosity of this gracious hostess.

Callas in a twist

An arrangement with a modern twist.
Calla lilies turning through, peonies, gerber daisies,
and a swirl of dracena leaves to finish the vase.
This composition was very fun to create.

Cardoons

This is a photo shared from floral grower in Hood River, Windflower Carolyn said this year there is going to be a bumper crop of the flowers that look like large artichokes. I like to incorperate the foliage in arrangements. Some people are allergic to the oils in the leaves.
Just had to share.

Succulent wedding flowers

Another awesome wedding, created with succulents, hen & chicks, callas, love in the mist, and mini cymbidiums. Oh yes and string of pearls. The bride picked up the arrangements and was very pleased. I hope that they share photos so you can have a better idea of all the pieces. I would not be surprised if the brides bouquet wasn't 5-6 lbs. Had a wonderful day!

first blog test Driftwood Shelf

Driftwood Shelf
This is a drift wood shelf I installed at Old Town Florist. Right now we  are in the throws of the succulent craze. Not a bad place to be either. Low maintenance and you can plant them in anything. The ones one the shelf are corrugated tin containers, with just the right amount of rust. If you enjoy this kind of thing visit the store in the pearl district 404 NW 10th ave. Portland, Oregon 97209 or like our page on face book.
